Squeeling when throttle up?

Just got my first boat with a Volvo Penta Motor. The Motor is the 4.3GLPBYC. It has the SX Cobra outdrive (SXM179). Starts right up and idles no problem. When I first throttle up it has a loud squeeling sound. Much like when a belt in my car is having issues. The squeeling only last for a few seconds (Maybe 15-20) and then goes away. Only seems to happen when the motor is cold after sitting for 30 minutes or more. I looked at the belts when I started it and it doesn't seem like it is coming from them. Could I try some belt dressing? Should I look elsewhere? Maybe the pulleys or something in the outdrive?

Have you thought about opening the engine hatch and actually looking around, checking the belt tension and listening to hear where the sound is coming from?

have a similar problem and I also have a rough runner right after the " sound" starts.

Mechanic tells me " Fuel Pump " I am looking into this for a fix next week. best of luck

Fuel pump sounds right. I changed the belts anyhow but my fuel pump seems to be out. Not sure what is causing this, but I changed the relay and it primed and then seems like the new relay blew as well. Turn the key and nothing. Crank and it just doesnt get fuel.

I've had both of your problems. One thing I wonder is where are you running your boat? Salt or fresh water. BTW I have a 4.3 GS PBYC. Firstly, replace all of your pullies with new and powder coated replacements. It will help the wear on your belts. I bet without looking at it, your pullies are rusted. At least hit them with a wire brush on a drill motor. And by all means, carry a spare set of pullies. If you lose the one for the alternator, you're dead in the water.
For your fuel pump, look under the housing of your fuel pump relay switch. Look for corrosion. It can even be hidden. I believe there is a special tool used to remove the wires from where they insert. Nothing wrong with putting a coat of di-electric grease over them after they are checked to help protect them. Also try jumping the switch to see if it starts the pump. At least you'll know if your pump is good or not.

Fresh water only. Put on the new fuel pump. Jump the relay and it is working but not feeding any fuel. Took the Fuel line loose that runs to the tank. It appears to be clogged. Could not blow through it or suck through it. Maybe it needs more pressure provided by the pump. Not real sure where to go next. Also fuel tank is full and cannot pull it when full. Anyone have an idea?

I had this exact same problem (99 VP 5.7Gsi). I had the pulleys 'reconditioned' twice and the alternator belt tightened a couple times. Each time the squeal would go away for a couple outings then return. Finally I just replaced the alternator myself and that eliminated the problem and it's never returned. The alternator (on my motor) doesn't kick in until 1500 rpms and so as soon as I throttled up and it put the alternator under load the belt would squeal.

The fuel pump will pump fuel and runs from a remote fuel source. Definitely something with the fuel tank or fuel line as I suspected. My question what is the best way to diagnose and fix the tank? I can access the tank from the cockpit but not the engine compartment. Looks like the vent line is accessible since it is forward toward the bow, but the fill hose, supply hose and the sending unit are all under the floor and rear seat and I cannot even get my hand under there to feel the hose clamps. I was thinking it may be easiest to just pull the tank from the forward area, but it is full of full and a 40 gallon tank. Any suggestions on how I can get to this thing to begin correcting the problem?
