Now THAT might be a big squirrel !!

Maybe it can flip a Volvo or SAAB or two !

Actually its a diode, part of the electric shift system. The 'clipper circuit' unit fits in there also.

The top pic is your terminal block but don't know what the squirrel bag is or what engine it is. Might post your model number and state the specific problem you are having.

Yes, that's the clipper in the first pic.
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the squirrel nuts, I call them monkey balls, are actually capacitors that hold a charge for a couple of seconds so that when you cut off the ignition switch the motor doesn't immediately go into forward.

Re: Squirrel Nuts and Clipper Switch (small pics)

I'm guessing that the motor is a '71-'72 125 or a '72 100hp.

Check the wiring on what you are calling the "clipper" switch to see if it has 2 yellow wires , red, a purple one and a ground. If so, that is a safety switch to keep the motor from starting up if a piston is near TEC and the key is turned on.
The motor has to be cranking over and the alternator juice turns the safety switch on to allow the red wire 12 volts to travel to the purple wire which in turn is connected to the powerpack, sort of like a relay.

The "dog nuts" are twin diodes that rectify the AC current from the alternator to provide voltage to the green wire (neutral) in the gearcase to keep the shifter from banging into gear when you shut the motor off since that is mechanically spring loaded into fwd. gear when there is no hydraulic pressure.

That clipper should have been removed when the power pak, and coil were replaced. If you maintain good battery, and electrical connections, you don't need it. Rapair will void there warranty if you leave the clipper in with their pak's.

Just remove the clipper, Those ball's are called a blocking diode. The engine will lurch into gear on shut down if it is'nt in place.
