We're flying out this morning to Jacksonville for a friends wedding and wondering if anyone has a suggestion for something fun to for my family to do. Was thinking about the old spanish fort in St. Augustine- cruised around that town for a couple hours once.Kinda nice.
We've got the evening tonight, all tomorrow day and Sunday PM to play.
Any Suggestions?

Jacksonville Zoo, North side of town just off I-95. You will also be in easy range of Orlando, South on I-95 to I-4 at Daytona, go West on I-4, Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios and others. If you are into Nascar, Daytona Speedway. Just a few things I can think of.

Our kids like the Dolphin conservacy (Marineland) just south of St Augustine on the ocean. We didn't do the swim (they're only 5 and 7), but they did the paint with the dolphins and the dolphins painted them each a painting. Theye got to do a little training, pet, and feed them too.

Not worth going to pay admission only to view, as not much to see.

general admission is less than going to a theater, to see a bad movie. these guys do great things here with beached whales and other sea life, manatees.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. Turns out we're staying at the beaches, which had the most amazing moonrise last night! (missed the storm) Sat on the beach and watched for hours...

I'll check out a couple of the places mentioned and thanks again!

Update:Re: St. Augustine, Jacksonville, FL Fun Stuff to do?

Got back last night ...

We stayed at Jax Beaches at a Marriot- cheaper than downtown Jax! Ate at Joe's- not impressed, but my kid had fun dancing on the tables with the staff at least.
Went to the Castillo de San Marcos -http://www.nps.gov/casa man was that cool and informative. Luckily we were there for the cannon firing drill and some really informed guides, some of which volunteer their time . Kudos to them for such a great job making sure the history is kept alive.

Spent the rest of the day on the beach. Sat we went to Marineland which was a great recommendation. Learned a lot and had a great time. The drive there was beautiful and I realized that I could never live in such a place as I would never go to work. I'd be out on the water all day!!!:D I'm green with envy of those that live there....:D

Surf was fun too!

Thanks again!

Castillo de San Marcos is a MUST see when in St. Augustine, for sure. I have been there 4 times now, and never gotten to hear a canon fired! You lucky dog!

:D:D:DYeah it was quite a concussion. The video turned out cool except for the lady next to us saying something not quite so nice after the blast.Should have covered her ears as instructed.... Sure would be neat if they actually shot a 6 pounder into the water.
