Re: Stabalizers/hydofoil
I have the fin that attaches to the motor. Doelfin...I think. It's been on and off the boat for about six years. Every once in a while I take it off and make sure that it hasn't drooped with age. Since it's black plastic, the summer sun can heat it up pretty good, when the boat isn't in the water.
Some folks have said that the motor mounted type is hard on the cavitation plate. I haven't noticed that issue, I made sure that I drilled the proper size holes on installation and then gave the newly exposed metal a thin coating of epoxy to prevent corrosion.
The fin does improve time to plane and has a positive effect on handling.
Even with the fin, proper trim is important. My trim changes based on load, whether I'm pulling a tube or the size of the waves.
Mine too had the shoot for the sky bow rise, the fin has improved that unsettling motion.
I also moved the massive marine deep cycle battery forward and centered below the second seat.
Hope this helps!
