Stability?

In my last post I raved about our Whaler (also a CC). But that's not our only boat. Sure it has a lot of space and rides well, but its not an all-season boat. The windshield is narrow and is barely adequate for 2 people. If you have more passengers, some of them are going to be pelted with wind.

Our boating (fishing) season runs March to December. Seeing more and more enclosures /spray curtains on center consoles.

Fished a tournament last Spring on a 24’ Vector CC with a T-top and 3-sided enclosure. The canvas attached to the t-top and the gunnels forming a “gull wing”. The front canvas snapped to the sides creating a wind break the width of the boat.

With the exception of not having a rear curtain, which I leave open on mine, his enclosures is just as serviable as mine on a walk around.

Have a soft spot for a Parker 25 Pilot house and the Judge 27 Chesapeake for inclement weather conditions

Thanks for the input guys. My wife will only go out in warm weather. She likes the sun. So early and late season will be just myself and fishing buddies. The Pro line owner replied to messages. I ended up buying the Sea Hunt 212. Thanks again.

The big questions that need answered are how big your buget is and what your expecting to get in a boat for that buget. If your buget is limited you may have to find a boat that will meet your needs in an older boat.

There are older 19 to 20 foot boats with a deep V up front that reduces mid way back providing a lot of great characteritists but are there any for sale in your area. I own one and its still in the driveway even though I now have a new much larger boat. I own a 20 foot boat that will in fact handle 4 to 5 foot waves loaded with people and gear. The mid Columbia in a 45 MPH wind which is 75% of the time will test a boats nature. Ive been in many larger boats that do not handle these waves near as well. So size isnt necc the cure all.

I've been on a Mako that did okay in 8' (don't wanna' do it again). I've also been on a Grady White that would do alright in that. Both about 19' to 22'. You're not gonna' run wide open in seas like that, but you'll make it through.
