Hi guys;

I have a Highfive, five blade SS prop and I would like it to sparkle, but am not sure how to achieve this.

Any suggestions would be welcome.....

Thanks,

Ken

From Mercury Racing:

1) The propeller can be easily cleaned with rubbing compound or Scotchbrite. Do not use steel wool.

Always follow up with chrome polish to protect the finish.

If white from calcium or lime:

2) Clean the prop with household mineral bath and tile cleaner. Do not use steel wool.

Always follow up with chrome polish to protect the finish.

I used red rubbing compound on mine and basic marine wax. Shiny! :D

I would send it to a prop shop and have it polished. Leading edge Propeller does all my high performance prop work and a polish only job shouldnt be much money. It will come back looking like jewelry. I am actually heading to their shop today.
When you have them polished, they do stay nice longer. If you boat in salt, polished prop do not get rust spots nearly as often.

If you have a cotton buffing wheel on a drill or arbor it would help a lot. I've found the best metal polish is called Maas, comes in a tube at Walgreens Drug Store. Jewelers Rouge(red compound) is great for final mirror finish. Good Luck!

I can not afford polishing costs.
So I leave the boat in the water all season.

Every fall my boat asks me. " Where is my trailer !! "
