Stainless steel vs. aluminum prop?

I got a 92' 40 hp merc oil injected 4 cyl. would a stainless steel propeller over an aluminum propeller make a difference on a smaller engine like this and if so what would it be? I was contumplating on putting a stainless steel prop on but wanted to make sure what the differences were before spending 200+ dollars. Thanks

id keep the aluminum. 200 dollars can sure buy a lot of 2 stroke oil

There's a great "Propeller Selection" topic over in the Engine FAQ's forum, here. <br /><br />I agree with phatmanmike about the savings (in your case, you could by 3 (or maybe 4) aluminum props for the price of that one stainless).<br /><br />As an example, I just picked-up a Hustler prop for ~$90 delivered (the next day!) , from iBoats. I think for the 40HP you're looking at less than $80 for the same prop.

Stainless tends to provide more benefits to higher H.P. motors.

yea thanks for all the replys guys. im gunna stick with the aluminum prop. Quantumleap thats what i was thinking but i just thought i would ask and see what others thought.
