Hello guys,

I've been reading a lot about the above mentioned problem with the stalling of my OMC Cobra 4.3 V6 when shifting to neutral slowly, but I couldn't quit find what I was looking for.
According to the mechanic of my boat, I need some kind of modification kit that was issued by OMC a long time ago. Does anyone of you know what I need exactly? The mechanic can order it, but than it will take a long time to get delivered.
So if have an exact description or partnumber I might be able to find it somewhere else or maybe one of you guys has an idea about where to find this part?

Re: Stalling when shifting to neutral

Hmmmm. I had an '89 5.7 and I never experienced stalling coming out of gear, only going from neutral into gear. I'm not aware of any such kit that your mechanic mentioned; and I've never heard of stalling going into neutral. The majority of Cobra stalling issues can be attributed to a faulty shift cable. When was the last time yours was adjusted or replaced?

Re: Stalling when shifting to neutral

Could be that the ESA gets activated going into neutral(normal) but stays activated once in neutral. Take a look at the shift switch and see where its sitting after your shift. If its sticking, it could be your lower shift cable is causing the issue.

The switch should be in the middle of the V when in neutral.
