Re: stalling

Re: stalling

When was the last time you cleaned and adjusted your carbs, replaced your fuel pump and check valves, decarbed the engine? Don't remember, time to do it.

Re: stalling

I just purchased the boat so I don't really know when it was done last. I just changed the spark plugs ,the guy had plugs that had the hook piece in them I cleaned the filter, sprayed some cleaner into the carbs but didn't take them off pumped the primer nothing came out of the carbsShould I take them off and soak and clean anyway?I heard to take the line disconnect off all together What cleaner is recommended to decarb, seafoam maybe?

Re: stalling

The proper plugs for your engine are Champion UL18V. They are surface gap racing plugs availble at any auto store. DO NOT use the plugs with the L shaped ground as they will BURN A HOLE IN YOUR PISTON!

Seafoam is the best stuff to decarb the engine with. In the FAQ at the beginning of the iboats maintenance forum there is a procedure for decarbing.

I would pull the carbs and clean with spray carb cleaner. Make sure all the passages are clear and that the float and needle valve work. Don't push the needle valve into the seat as you can damage the seat.

Re: stalling

yea the store I went to had ngk's hopefully they'll be fine .The guy I bought the boat from told me the plugs with the l shape ground would be better and thats why he installed them .I don't think he actually took good care of the boat maintence wise .I should have asked how old the fuel was.

Re: stalling

Go to the FAQ and look up Waking a sleeping engine. It has a lot of good info in it.
