well problem sorted.... how I don't know. I swopped over the stator and timer base and carbs and primer , went down to the river and away I went.

I'll get around to finding out what it was over some wet weekend , I'll put back on each part and see what causes the trouble . But for it's time to be boating.

Big thanks guys to all your suggestions esp Durban as between this one and another thread , he put a big effort in.
