for you professional types...is it common to stamp the block for various reasons after a rebuild?
I found a bunch of stamps and a few i am sure are from a rebuild others...not so sure.
on the ede of the exhaust housing part of the block adjacent to the bores...opposite each cyliner is .040
my block is .040 over. i know that...they stamped the number on some casting circles .
then down the one side of that same edge of the exhaust housing.. the numbers 7 9 9 were stamped vertically. as if to say it was done in july 1999???
is it common to stamp a date when a rebuild is done??
thanks
bob
