Stand-up bimini on a 185 Stingray

I own a 2006 Stingray 185. Stingray's bimini is a short bimini, too short to permit standing. Can I buy a stand-up bimini from another manufacturer for my boat?

I would Think that a local Upholstery Shop would be able to Build you 1.......

I have a 180RX coming with factory bimini. Why do you want a real tall standup bimini? Do you want a clear panel from the front to the windshield top or just the high, sunblock bimini? I have a quite tall bimini on my current boat because I have to climb over the windwhield to get on the solid front deck but the thing does blow around quite a bit in the wind because it is up so high. With a fast boat (50 mph) I'm not sure I'd want a big, sail like bimini fluttering around up there. On the other hand, if it's only used at rest or for fishing, high would be good.<br /><br />Biminis up to 5 feet high are offered right here on Iboats.

You can easily extend the bimini frame with some tubing. When I had this same problem, I bought some aluminun tubing that was the same OD as the bimini frame and some that was about the same OD as the ID of the bimini frame. I used the smaller tubing to reinforce the joint on the inside so that it looked nice and pop riveted the parts together. I found the tubing at my local hardware store. It was very cheap and easy.

Word to the wise. Thought I'd have a similar thing built but decided to use stainless for strength. Wrong. Way too heavy. Stick with a good quality aluminum.<br /><br />A canvas shop isn't all that expensive and you can have it custom made to your exacting specifications; pick out material type and all.<br /><br />Mark
