Standard vs counter rotation.

Can someone tell me how to visually tell which kind of prop I have? My engine number would indicate I have a counter rotation, but looking at the prop I would think it was standard. Also how do I tell if it's a 15 or 13 spline? Not even sure what a spline is. I was assuming this was the ridges on the end of the shaft the prop would mount on. I'd rather not pull the prop off to find out which one it has so is there another positive way to ID which kind it has?

FYI, Looking at my boat from the rear facing toward the bow, my prop exhaust facing me, my prop would rotate in a clockwise direction when moving forward. If it were a fan it would be blowing air AT me if that makes sense. In reverse gear it would be blowing air the other way and turning in a counter clockwise rotation.

From your description you have a Standard rotation prop. You are correct, ridges = splines. Most props either have a part# stamped on the side of the hub or on the end (hidden under the nut & washer) I believe your motor is a 15 spline

OK good to know, then I guess something is odd about my engine. It states in the description it is counter rotation which is why I was confused. I'll admit the model digits are hard to read but there is no mistaking that one digit is either a C or a G and since there is no G, then I figured it must be a C. It also has an extra digit at the end.

Re: Standard vs counter rotation.

My understanding is this: Standard means that the shaft turns clockwise (as you look at it from the back) and the boat goes forward.

My prop, which is standard, looks like this (attached).

Mine looks like that as well.
