Starcraft - but what model?

Hi all,

I got my boat today and took some pictures of it. I also have a few questions about it.

She's 13' 10" long, and the year given on the registration is 1965. I'm not sure the seats and interior carpet are more than a few years old given the condition and color of the seats. Is the serial number for the boat going to be the same as the hull id number on the registration? If so, is there a way to look up the boat by it's serial number?

Also, the hull looks like it has been repainted given the last pic, but the upper part of the boat looks fairly old with some faded spots. Am I right that the hull was repainted?

It does have an emblem for the center of the steering wheel, but I forgot to put it back on before shooting the pictures.

So I may need a bit of help finding out what exactly this is. I've looked at brochures and manuals until my head is spinning....

i'd guess you're right on the repaint....compare the paint on the throttle assy. also looks like it's been recarpted & upholstered. look up under dash area for overspray from the red

NICE boat!

There is a link to the brochures in my signature...browse thru and you should be able to find the model somewhere.

That has been restored already and it looks like they did a great job too. It still looks fairly original to me, and that 40hp should push her along very nicely.

Welcome to the starcraft fleet:)

Re: Starcraft - but what model?

Thanks! I found the brochures when I was trying to figure out what the boat was. The fellow I bought it from said it was a '67, but the registration says a '65. I think it's a "Rocket" but until I can find more info on the 65's I guess I'll have to wait to find out for sure.

By the way, is it a bad sign if I spend a lot of time reading the restoration threads? :D

Well, I'm going to have to change that mantra a tiny bit (to other men) - but I have already started saying it... There is a beautiful 18 foot open bow down the street from us that's for sale...

Are you sure this isn't an "enablers" group? :D

I figure by the end of next summer I'll have another one - even if it's an aluminum rowboat to work on. :)

No, we are not an enabler group, nor a cult. You have stumbled on a secret society (knights templar, skull and bones, Royal Order of the Paladins etc...). We are here of our own free will, once accepted in we never leave.

Your second mission is to meet the requirements of admission. You have fulfilled your first all ready. Good luck in your quest.

Too funny! Maybe that's what I should name her - "The Quest"

On another note: Could you point me in the right direction of a thread on how to buff or otherwise clean chrome? The fittings are pitted, and I'd like to see them shine.

I'm looking at my '66 Starcraft brochure and yours looks to be either a Mustang or an Arrow model. The Arrow in the '66 brochure displays the same color as yours. I can't tell on the brochure if the dash has the pocket like yours.

I'd like to ask you about the Del Ray model. I see that the Del Ray and Bahama were similar in '64, being 15' fiberglass lapstrake design. Do you know if in '65, did Starcraft continue with the Del Ray. I have a '65 Starcraft Bahama, but there's a guy in Fiberglassics that has a '65 Starcraft Del Ray. The hull and deck are identical. In '66, there wasn't a model Del Ray from my brochure. Bahama continued in '67 as well. Just asking since I have yet to see a the entire line of '65 boats from a '65 Starcraft brochure. Thanks.

I can help out with that one. :D I went a little nuts and bought a 65 Starcraft brochure off of eBay just so I could find out more about my little boat. My boat is indeed an Arrow - it has the little pocket on the dash.

The Del Ray is not listed in the brochure, but the Bahama is listed for the 15' size.

I'm going to scan the brochure in and then upload to flickr hopefully today. :)

Congrats on your pretty classic fiberglass Starcraft. That's awesome that you have the '65 Brochure. I'd like a copy if you wouldn't mind sharing. I'll post images of my '65 Bahama this evening. Thanks.

Certainly! I'll put a link in my siggie for now until the link gets to the Brochures section.

Thanks for the kind words re: my boat. And don't forget to post picks of your Bahama! I'm looking forward to seeing it. :)
