I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else, I really don't think my boat is really all that special but it does seem to get a lot of attention.

Last week when we were out on the lake I saw 3 different people take a picture of my boat as we passed by, I was thinking who on earth would take a picture of this ugly old thing with its 70's color scheme. Maybe they were just laughing and taking pictures of my garbage man tan.

I had another person say "hey, what year is that starcraft? my grandfather and I are restoring one just like that!".

I seem to get reactions like this often. This ever happen to anyone else?

Usually at the gas station! The guy on the other side of the gas pump will start up a conversation about the old tub!
I had two Aussie guys here on Holiday keep me for 30 minutes, as they thought it was the coolest old boat they have seen.

We just have to deal with it...lol :D

The first time it happened to me was about 10 minutes after I bought my Islander. I drove from the seller's home to a gas station to put air in the trailer tires. A couple guys commented on how cool it is. I said "thanks I just bought it - don't even know if it floats yet!"

I do happen to think the profile of the Islander is particularly

I'm always getting complements on my SS and it makes all the work I put into her worth it and gives me a sence of pride. When I dragged the Chieftain home I passed an old timer mowing his lawn. He eyeballed that thing until I was out of site. A couple of weeks ago another older gentleman from the neighborhood, who has never stopped by, came over to check her out. We talked for an hour with a beer. Once in a while I notice people slowing down to see the progress.

Yeah Kev, Sometimes there are reasons to stare! Good thing that didn't happen at rush hour when all the rubberneckers would be blaming you for their extended commute. And making offers for you boat, single digit low ball offers.

I have had mine out on the water a handfull of times and everytime I have a comment about it. I also went to my cabin and every one pulling a boat on the freeway took 5 minutes to pass us. They love the Avacado.

I had a similar (but worse) experience like that with my first Starcraft Holiday, took a corner a little too fast, broke the safety straps and rolled the boat over. It was a total loss, snapped motor mounts, broke the windshield, twisted the hull...

...I understand how you must have felt, mistakes like that make for the worst days. :(

Re: Starcraft Gawkers

Every time I've had the boat beached while we are camping, folks always wander up and start talking about their uncle's old Starcraft that they learned to ski behind and so on.

It's nice to know folks have an appreciation for old tin cans:)

Recently I have been getting lots of people staring in my yard wondering what is going on with the boat flipped over and all the paint missing:D

I've had my 72 SS out three times since I brought it home and I've had three comments...and mine's still avocado green. Wait till I get it painted! Love my SS!

Although my 72 ss has a silver stripe, it's still a greenie at heart, recently purchased I haven't got it wet yet. I am growing fond of the green.
