Hi all, month or so away probably but I need pics of kicker motors on your Starcrafts - 18 ft Holidays with outboards if possible.

Please include kicker bracket brands and any horror stories associated with installation, ease of use or anything else you want to share.

Thanks in advance.

I've had a 15 HP Johnson 2 stroke short shaft with no real luck with running it on Lake Ontario,I think a 9.9 HP electric start longshaft is in my future.

All comments are welcomed.

I am a fisherman, big respect for pleasure boaters but I will be using mine 98 % of time for fishing walleye, bass , trout and salmon ( with downriggers ).

Here is an optimal setup although electric start and steering bracket of some sort would be perfect

Thanks for the pictures rommel.Looks like a sweet tidy setup.

Is that a Holiday you removed the back seating area from?

Some more pics of your interior would be great as I see you made a battery compartment and I see a rod holder up by passenger seat area.

Are you able to put a steering rod on after your kicker is down? Long shaft as well I believe.

Thanks for posting.

Yes it is a 1985 holiday. To make more deck room I removed the back to back seats then moved the rears seats up. I got a very good deal on the boat and it was in near immaculate condition. Being it is going to be a fishing vessel I had to remove the carpeting. I then used a spray on bed liner kit to seal up the plywood. For short money and ease, I think it came out all right. The battery compartment is under the splashwell, it has a 30 gallon tank in the bow. All original in great shape. I removed then reinstalled all the styrofoam insullation. Powered by 85 merc 60hp, which I believe is under powered, but it has so few hours and runs so good I can not replace it ye I am away now and will post what few pics I got on my phone.
It was tricky adding kicker because the cut out for the splashwell is so narrow and the angle of the transom is greater than 90 degrees. I essentially had to install the motor brackett at the cut out for the splashwell. 3 of the 4 bolts for the motor mount go through the transom. The fourth bolt, the upper right bolt is theoretically in the air of the cut out for the splashwell. I then used a piece of angle aluminum to secure it to the side wall of the splashwell. I will try to post pic later. As for the kicker I am only going to use the tiller handle and not hook up to the main. I have an extension hanle that I use, made out of either 1 1/2" or 2" pvc. I cant remember right now

I have the same bracket as Shagrrotten has on his boat, however my boat is a 22'Islander. No issues however remember to add a reinforcement plate on the inside of the transom when attaching the bracket. I would recommend getting a bracket rated for more than the motor that you are putting on the boat. There will be a lot of stress while being towed down the road going over bumps etc with the kicker attached. My bracket is rated for 20 hp and I have a 9.9 kicker 2 stroke.
