Im getting ready to remove a floor on a sylvan offshore , after I remove the carpet what will I find? Is the floor riveted to the stringers? How hard is this floor going to be to get out? How is it attached to the boat?

Moving this to restoration.

LOL You answered your own question - yes it is riveted to the stringers and you need to dill the heads off the rivets and lift off the decking.

Is my goal here to remove the deck in 1 solid piece to trace it on solid wood?

reason I'm asking I pulled the carpet back under the transom and it looks pretty bad...real "wet" .. not sure how easy it will be to get it out in 1 piece

Hopefully your floor is composed of a few different boards, not all one piece (mine was in 4 pieces) Try to get it up as undamaged as you can, you will be surprised how easy that is. Mine (except for the damage already done) came up without causing more damage even though it was in bad shape. I was able to use the good spots. then guess the bad spots, and it seemed to work out well.

I didnt have the original floor to work with on mine, but if i had, I would of laid out some large sheets of paper in the bow area on top the floor and creased/marked/cut it for an accurate template before tearing out the old, just in case it ends up being mulch! All of the square cuts are pretty easy! From the sounds of it, you might wanna check that transom out also. More than likely its in the same shape! Good luck and keep the pics coming!

As said before its all riveted in. It should come out in 4 foot sections. If the floor is that wet you will most likely find that the foam is waterlogged also. In mine even the foam in the roof of the cabin was soaked too.
