I'm new to this so bare with me. I got an old starcraft from a friend just to use for fishing it was just a shell when I got it no floor no motor no dash... I fixed it up just enough to get on the water and. Used it a few years then upgraded to a 19' leasure craft. The starcraft got pushed in the woods and forgotten. I planned to sell it or scrap or just to get rid of it. My father in law saw it and wanted it so I gave it to him. He had it about a year and wanted me to see what was done to it. I was amazed. Believe it or not he gave it back to me

Welcome to iboats!:welcome:

With a FIL like that, you'd better take good care of your wife!;)

That looks like a Force outboard hiding under that gray paint.

It's a 1974 Johnson 70hp. Just rebuilt. Still needs to be broke in.

Thanks. Don't know how fast but ill find out this weekend.it use to do 26mph with a 40hp Nissan. No worries, I know all to well about chine walking, stuck throddles & loss of steering. Been there done that. I also know this boat don't like hitting other boat wake at high speed. It will dart right or left and try to roll over on you. Talk about a wake up call, that will get your attention quick.

Wow, absolutely stunning !

Great work by a great FIL.

Now if that ole green pickup were to be painted matching red to the boat & trailer wouldnt that be a hoot at the ramp. I'd buy a ticket to see that.

Thanks for sharing.

Beauty way to go.

Looks like you're FIL knows his way around a tin resto, you are extremely fortunate to benefit from some really excellent work! It should be a show piece.

Great to have ya jumping in w/ a finished resto ;)

Welcome to iboats....

Shopping for an Islander or a Chieftain? We don't want your FIL to have idle hands :D

Thanks for sharing the pix & back story. Hopefully you & your family all enjoy it, it really is a nice looking Jet Star.
