I'm looking to upgrade from the 15' 1969 Starcraft Mariner that I sold a while back. I've looked a two supersports (one 16' and one 18') recently from the mid 1980s. Unfortunately both of these boats had many (a few dozen) rivets with missing heads on the bottom of the boat. The center of the rivet is still in place, but the rivet head is either mostly or completely missing. I thought I would run this past the starcraft restoration gurus here. Is it normal for an older starcraft to have this many damaged rivets? Was there a problem with the mid 1980s models? Other than the damaged rivets, the hulls on both of these boats looked very good - no major dents, corrosion, etc. I'm just trying to figure out if this is a red flag or if I should pull the trigger and buy one of these and just pop in some new rivets. Thanks!
