I?m not good with year questions but if you do a search in the forum and type in Seafarer you will get lots of threads to checkout for helping you zero in on the year. There is also a sticky thread with most of the different years at the top of the forum.

The 1967 brochure shows 30hp and the 1970 shows 20. I would say you are the 30hp version because of the three braces. Still 20 would be plenty.

My 14' Super Star will plane out with two adults and a 9.9 Johnson.
Three people or too much gear and it won't quite.
Trolls beautifully though.

I hate a fishing boat that runs away as soon as you put it in gear.

Measure from the top of the transom to the bottom of the keel . That is how long the shaft will need to be. Looks like a short shaft to me.

the transom hight is 16.5 inches tall that would consider it a short shaft?

thanks

Re: starcraft seafarer

I have a 2003 SF 14 (measures 13'6") with one knee brace and it's rated for 30. Weird about the discrepancies in ratings, but I guess there are a lot of different factors. For instance my seats look much more structurally integrated than the older ones, probably making for a stiffer hull.

I run a 20 on mine and am very pleased with the performance, I think a 30 would be just scary.

That's it in my avatar.
