Kev you are a recent inductee to the Starcraft club. As such you will not be referred to by name yet.

Re: starcraft: should I buy it?

thanks to all who commented. I will let you know if I purchae the boat. One potential problem is the owner says he does not have the title for the boat and that the boat was never titled. I live in illinois and the boat is in indiana. Is this a huge problem? What hurdles must I jump though to get a title?

Cripes! Tell me where it is and I'll buy it! Those Hydor-Electric shift engines were a little wonky. It will most likely need work. The lower unit will need to be flushed with ATF and then refilled with the C type oil. I would check the oil in the lower unit several times after that to check for water contamination from a bad seal. New plugs would be good too. you might have issue getting the old ones out without stripping the threads after that long.

Water pump rebuild after all that time would be a no-brainer and a fuel pump rebuild would be a good idea. I'd offer $1200 and expect to drop at least $500 on the engine unless you feel handy and can do the work yourself.

I would also buy a spare wheel and get a pair of bearing buddies and install them befoer the trip home and pump them full.

That ia s a holiday not supersport. ss has open bow. I paid 1700 for running
18ft ss. $1200. would be max since motor is a wash and more then likely
you will need to repower . Used, another motor could be found for 1000.00 .
so 2200 for a nice classic boat would be pretty good to me.

I agree the hull looks to be in super condition, if the owner did what he said about draining all the fuel I would offer 1200.00 firm. Heck has a cover, top and a spare tire for the trailer.
I'm in......
