My battery is charged and putting voltage on the starter solenoid main buss, but no voltage on the solenoid switch lead. Switch is on, gear shift is in neutral, but no joy, she won't turn over.
I jumped voltage to the starter solenoid switch lead and she turns over fine. What am I missing?

Re: Start up problems

I would try to tap the selonoid while energized, it mat have "bad" contacts in it.If that works on the land I would replace it before I went out. My 2 cents.Squirt

Re: Start up problems

Thanks Squirt, No joy on tapping the solenoid. The control voltage to the solenoid switch is zero. Like maybe a kill switch or not in neutral, but I don't have a kill switch and the gear shift is in neutral. Back to the wire tracing.

Re: Start up problems

try pulling the control line off of the solenoid. measure voltage at the wire while turning key. if you see good voltage, the solenoid is shorted to ground. if no voltage,.... time to trace the wire back thru the switch and find where it's "open" at.

Good Luck
