Start with no muffs???

is it ok to start for a second then kill it with no muffs? I'm on street and cant run a hose I'm like a block from the ocean and neighbors will trip . Just drove hours to the lake and the primer ball wouldn't do anything. It's a repower so I haven't gotten it to kick on yet wann see if I can get ignition befor I drive back to closest lake.

Yes, as long as it is deep enough to get the water intake below the surface level of the water

Ok I'll throw muffs on in in a can tomorrow and hope for the best I blew up the gt150 in 45 mins of owning the boat. Bought this used 200 and just want to fish! I'm super impatient and a knuckle head thank you for the quick response guys

Boats and impatient do not work out well, knuckle head and boats, breaks things as you found out. Being patient and paying attention pays big dividends in the long run.

Don't "throw muffs on in in a can" or you'll be blowing this one up too. Muffs or can, not both.

Can I squirt 2stroke into carbs on this motor to help get it going? Any other tricks to get it to turn over? I had the shop check it out a couple weeks ago and they said it ran fine but they ran it off their own tank I guess

Just put muffs on it and had the neighbor turn on the hose for me haha. Started and idled for a few mins! Heading to the lake in the am I'll keep you guys posted!

Unless you are saving water, why not fill the can with water to check the impeller operation. The can will fill with water anyway and the chances of the hose kinking inside the can and reducing water flow is pretty good. What chance it?
