I am having problems with my starter it turns over really slow its a 89 65hp johnson.I have an old blown motor 83 50hp johnson are these starters interchangeable????????
If it looks like it would fit and had the same number of teeth, I'd give it a shot but are you sure it's your starter and not a loose or dirty connection?<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty
Joe,<br /><br />Slow turning starters are usually caused by excess resistance in the battery cables.<br /><br />Clean and check all of the connections-ESPECIALLY the ground on the engine block. Remove it and completely and clean it up.
