starter/flywheel

All,
I removed the starter this weekend for maintance. When i reinstall it, should i use grease on the flywheel?

No, just put it on dry. The grease would only hold grit and cause more wear than normal.

thank you for the prompt reply. how about a nubmer three oil? i read online that some people do so... what do you think?

Ayuh,... Starters,+ ring gears run against each other Dry everyday...
But,...
If you wanta grease it or oil it,...
Go right ahead, it's Your barge... It won't hurt a thing...

With the engine running it will just sling the grease inside the bell housing...
Useless really....No need for it but if it makes you feel better...oil it..:)
