I have a 20 hp Mercury 200 Thunderbolt. I think that the motor is a 1974 or 75 model (serial # 4063830). I want to know if there is a electric starter that was made for this motor? I have a mounting bracket on the side for a starter, and would appreciate any help or suggestions. If there is a starter that was made for this, where is the best place to purchase one?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Starter for 1975 20 hp Mercury

Is there a after market starter for this motor? I considered selling the Mercury, and buying a 1999 Evenrude 4 stroke 9.9 electric start but the asking price is $1000.00. I thought it was a little high.
Thanks again,
Robert

I had a '59 Mark 35A which I was told the starter was no longer available but guess what? Delco made a replacement. Take the original part # and check with a starter rebuilder in your area. They should be able to come up with something.

I have a Mercury 200 20HP outboard motor with a starter on it. Starter quit working and I took it to the local repair shop but they told me they could not find any parts for it. Does anyone know where I can get my start rebuilt?
I believe it is a 1975 motor, serial number is 4103470.
