My starter seems to be working fine, but it makes a LOUD grinding-like noise whenever I use it. Not sure if I need to worry about it, but I decided to clean and lube the bendix as suggested in another post. For this starter I decided to remove the starter and remove the "bendix cover". There was no other way to get in there and clean/lube. Once that cover came off the bendix came right out of the starter and its cleaned and lubed. Inside the starter, the engagement mechanism is very loose. Before I put it back together, is this normal? Any other suggestions regarding the noise?
