starter issue and ?

I have an 83 Johnson 35hp long shaft j35elects. I was boating the other day turned sharp and it stalled. It then would not refire. I know that the starter is going bad for it needs tapped on here and there so I am going to change it and use a rebuild kit on the carb while I have it off hoping that it will fire back up. Any other ideas as to what would cause this ? Also, I undid all the bolts that I could see on the starter and cant remove it or the starter? Anyone have any good reference piks or vids on how to do this ? Thank you

A sharp turn like that could have starved the motor if your fuel tank was low. Re-priming with the bulb probably would have helped start the motor. As for the starter, there can't be more that a couple bolts holding it and they should be visible without removing anything but the cables.

Tries reprimiming as well as letting it sit for a half hour with no luck. The gas was from the season before with stabil, I then bought new gas and tried that with no luck again.
