Starter kicking out

91' Force 90,2 stroke,inboard: I found a bad wire that prevented me from starting the other day,thanks for your help on that one. Today, I ask for your help again, my starter works each time its called for, however, it will "kick"out every 3-4 times.All teeth are there,the bendix is lubricated.Battery has good charge.With all your help on the different troubles I am having,I might have a reliable boat soon.LOL( water pump went out yesterday,gonna fix it now) Squirt

Squirt:<br /><br />If I understand your question correctly...the starter always "starts" or rotates, but every third or fourth time "kicks out" or does not fully engage? If so, and with the other things you mentioned, it sounds to me like some wear is beginning to show in electrical connections...head straight for the brushes, replace those they're inexpensive, a rather easy fix and you won't ruin the armature. You should be able to fix this for under $14.
