I have posted a few times recently trying to diagnose an intermittent warm starting problem.

This post is specifically about the starter.
Most of the time when I am having the warm starting issue the starter will crank the motor one revolution and kick out.
I realize that the starter is supposed to kick out when it thinks the motor is starting, but should it kick out this easy? Time after time.
Or is it just a symptom?
On my old boat (1995 40 hp merc), the starter would just crank until the motor started whether it was 2 seconds or 20 seconds. There was no cutting out.
The motor starts OK when cold and runs fairly well once started.
