Starter Noise

I own a 2000 Bluwater Mirage with a 5.0 volvo penta. When I turn the key to start the motor I hear a rapid clanging or bell noise that I'm pretty sure is coming from the starter. It's not dragging and the motor starts. Any imput would be appreciated.

I had a similiar issue. Doesnt sound like the starter is engaging the flywheel correctly. Check to see if one of the starter bolts has worked its way loose.

Ayuh,..........<br /><br />A Loose Starter Could very well be the Issue you have,..........<br />Don't continue to use it,.. Till you Find Out Why it's making the Noise,........<br />There's a Very Real Possibility that you're Destroying the Ring Gear.........<br />The Starter is an Easy Fix.............<br />If you Chew Up the Ring Gear,....... The Motor HAS to come Out to Fix That..........
