starter parts

Are there brushes available on line for a '78 50 hp starter?<br /><br />I broke one while puuling it apart to see if it was worth trying to repair. For the most part it looks OK. But the bottom was full of trash and water.<br /><br />Any help would be appreciated.

That's a 4 cyl? What serial number?

Give it a good cleaning,and if Merc doesn't have parts,try your local guy who rebuilds auto starters.<br /><br />Just remind him it is marine use.<br /><br />DHP

Thanks, I did find a set on ebay for sale. But I will check with my local Mercury dealer Monday. I was not sure if the parts were readily available or not.
