i have a 1983 2.5l mercruiser and will not start with key can jump off with screw driver at what i think is called slave solenoid, but i've tried to search for it under this name and can't find it.Please help need to order this part.
You seemed a little unsure, so just to make sure: You have two solenoids. On the top of the starter is the starter solenoid, and away from the starter, maybe bolted to the engine is he starter slave solenoid. The key activates the slave solenoid which in turn activates the starter solenoid. Which one did you jumper with the screwdriver? Just want to be clear.
thanks for your help and to clarify i did jump off on the solenoid not on the starter mine has a bracket coming off the block next to trim pump.

Last question, did it click when you hit the ignition switch? If not it might not be the solenoid, could be the switch or wiring. Don's troubleshooting will tell which. Good luck.
