Hey, Guys,
I have a dumb question for you. I finally got some time and worked on getting the boat ready for the season. Its a 1990 Stratos 270FS. The motor is a 1990 Evinrude 120 Looper MN E120TLESB ans SN G02514560. My problem is that after 16 years, the plastic on the ignition switch snapped off so I ordered a SeaDog replacement. The swap was pretty straight forward. The terminal markings matched except on the original OMC switch one terminal is marked "S" and on the S/D switch it is marked "I". I'm guessing Start and Ignition so thats the way I hook it up. All the others go letter to letter. After the swap, I start the boat and the starter engages the flywheel, the boat starts, the starter drops down, but continues to run. I don't remember this being the case before. Is this correct? Shouldn't the starter stop running when the switch goes back to the run position?

Thanks in advance for clearing this up.

Denny

Thanks. Thats what I thought. The SD switch has A, C, B, M, M and I. The OMC has A, C, B, M, M and S.

I gather that you're telling me not to expect too much longevity out of the SD.....
