So are you saying to disconnect the wires coming out of the reservoir and then fire it up, or disconnect and then re-connect before firing it up?

If you can, Disconnect the 2 wires that come out of the tank... Don't rip them out of the tank..
Follow them away from the tank, I am sure theirs a plug at the end of those 2 wires...

Unplug it and fire her up and see if the beeps stop, If the beeps stop you found the problem..

Awesome, I'll try that tonight. Thanks Ant. Honestly, it feels like a pretty small problem.

If the beeping stops, but the wires are disconnected, what does that mean entirely? Don't I want to have the wires connected at all times?

Obviously if the beeping continues after I disconnect the wires, it's something else. :)

If the beeps stop,
Then there is a problem with that float assembly, Could be stuck or shorted out..

I do not think you should run the boat without the oil alarm... If that oil injection fails, You wanna know about it ASAP...
If not, you can do serious damage to the engine..

This is just a test to see if it's that sensor or not..

There is a number of things that could be wrong, I am just eliminating that sensor in the oil tank bye disconnecting it....

Also, Don't run the boat long in case there is a problem with the oil system and its not getting oil..

Does the motor blow smoke out the prop when you start it??

Thanks again Ant, so just to clarify. I want to disconnect the wires that are running out of the reservoir tank from where ever they are connected to. I don't want to go inside the tank at all. Just want to make sure.

I'm going to play around with it a bit tonight, but I just want to know which wires to pull exactly, and from where.

Thanks.

Yes, That is correct... Just disconnect those 2 wires and fire her up and see if the beeps stop, If they do stop
then you know that float/sensor is either stuck in down position or could be shorted out... No need to go into the reservoir tank yet..

Awesome, I'll do that later on tonight. Hopefully I can get to the end of those wires.

No Title

I took a look at the oil reservoir and there's no way I can access the wire coming out of it. Not without removing the oil reservoir altogether. So that's my next question...is it fairly simple to remove the oil reservoir? Looks like just a couple of bolts and connectors. Do I need to do anything with the oil inside it, or in the hoses before removing the reservoir?

I've included some pictures showing around the reservoir. I can see an in-line fuse attached to the wire coming out of the reservoir, located right underneath it. Could it be a blown fuse?

What's my next option? I started it up and I've still got beeps unfortunately.

Thanks!

Don't think its a fuse, But go ahead and check it...

Remove the reservoir and disconnect the wires, Then put the reservoir back on with the wires disconnected.. Leave the hose connected so the motor is getting oil
Then Start it up and see if the beeps stop...

Update...it's been about a week and I took some time to check out the on board oil reservoir. I thought I'd fire it up first to see if I still have beeps. So I removed the cowling, fired it and there are no beeps now. I'm going to shut it down for 5-10 minutes, put the cowling back on and try again. Last time I did this the beeps came back. Will update shortly.

Beeps came back. I removed the on board oil reservoir, but can't manage to disconnect the sensor line. I'm at my max I think, going to bring it in and have a professional check it out. I just don't trust myself enough with this motor. :)

Thanks for all your help, I'll update when I know more.

Update;

Had the motor checked out by a mechanic and he found injector five wasn't firing as it should have been. He cleaned out the injector and removed a bunch of debris / carbon that had collected in there. He said the beeping wasn't oil caused. He checked oil pressure and oil supply and all that, and it all checked out just fine. He also said that the injector not performing as it should have been may have caused the sudden drop in RPMs that I was experiencing once in a while. This is where the engine would drop 500RPM for a split second while cruising at or around 3-4500RPMs. So we will see. The starter install I did checked out just fine also, so I was glad to hear that.

So all is good for now, I haven't taken it out since the repair, but I'll post an update.

Next up is the tilt trim motor, it's starting to go now. I can hear it chugging along and "dying", lol. It looks like an easy swap out, but getting into the bolt behind the trim motor against the transom looks tricky. Any ideas, besides removing the engine?

Took it out today and I've still got the same problems. A sputtering at mid range RPMs and a beeping. So talked to the mechanic and he says they will have to diagnose again and see what's going on.

Little disappointing but what can you do?
