i have a 1998 350 mercruiser I/O. just replaced starter and selonoid (attached to the starter) however at times when i try to cranck the boat by turning the key, nothing happens. it is only and luckly after a few key turns that she starts. could it be the key or the other selonoid?

Don't just start throwing parts at a problem. Why pay 25 bucks for a slave solenoid if the only problem is the neutral safety switch being loose, or an ignition switch going bad, or a faulty connection in the main harness, or ............. Get my drift.
Troublshoot first, buy what you need to fix.
