Howdy

I am trying to replace the starter solenoid on my 1991 150HP force and came across a problem. I cant seem to figure out the positive/negative terminals on the new one! One terminal has an "A" next to it and that is the only marking on the part.

Does it matter which terminal is positive/negative?
If so, how to I determine which terminal is which on the new part?

Thanks,

Mitchell

Re: Starter Solenoid Help!!

Solenoids dont have a pos and neg. They have an in and out so to speak.
Current travels throught them. All they are is a big switch.
Once you bolt is on, the side closest to the starter is the starter side and the other is the battery side. In most cases. Then the wire that energizes it is the one closest to the starter side of the solenoid. Again in most cases.
Look at your wiring diagram to make sure.
