To start:
Motor in question is a 50hp Mercury 500 Thunderbolt Ignition.
The engine serial # is 3175358.
The best info I could find is "maybe" it was made in 71.
Anyways, I'm not getting power past the solenoid. I thought I'd try replacing the solenoid, then if that didnt help replace the starter.
Could anyone point me to an online parts supplier that has this part.?
Could you verify the year on the motor?
Thanks. If you need more info let me know.

Re: Starter Solenoid needed. Help

You could jump across the terminals to verify that your starter works.

Also, when my starter solenoid went out, I went to autozone and got one for an old ford pickup. It was a little bigger, but I bolted it down on one side, and it has been working for me for over a year.

k
