have not gotten boat back but mechanic said it was hydrolock like some of you said. I was worried that the engine block had cracked but he said the engine had sucked some of the anti freeze in at the very end. I am sure he is right. In the past when I drove the boat for awhile if I did not let it sit for a minute when I turned it off the engine would surge and act like it wanted to keep going so I just turned the key to the on spot. It never really bothered me I just let it sit for min. But apparently the timing was off and the mechanic said he would fix the problems. thanks for all your advice.

That?s great you found the problem, But you said this was the first time you had started it since it was winterized. So either you sucked up water on the very last shut down for the winter or the mechanic that winterized it sucked up the pink antifreeze while he was winterizing it. That?s really not a good way to winterize a raw water cooled motor. One - for that very reason and another because you can still leave water in the block and manifolds and it can freeze if the thermostat does not open all the way up. I would be asking how it was winterized. If it works out - good, but if you have issues id be asking some questions.

Good Luck!
