The port engine starter stays running on the first start of the day. Turning the batteries off, and then on fixes the problem. Never happens again until another first start on another day. Have replaced the ign. key sw., the relay between the key sw. and starter solenoid, and had the starter rebuilt with a new solenoid fitted. Boat is a 1987 Searay 340 Express. Could there be some electrical logic somewhere that keeps the port engine starter engaged only on the first start of the day?

While its doing it check to see if your S terminal wire has 12v at the the solenoid. If it does check your wiring from starter to your switch (for a short or bare wire etc,)if not, i would say the the starter/solenoid is shorting out inside. I have also worked on the same boat my in laws have a 87 sundancer 340 with twin 454's. ill help as much as i can.
