Starter switch at solenoid

G'day,I want to crank from motor to check my timing,without turning key.Can someone confirm what these switches are called,and do they just hook to solenoid.

are you using a remote starterswitch? Is this what your refering too? If so the red goes to the lead on the solenois Big red wire conested the other should go the the terminal with the terminal with the S for Starter

Thanks S&M,Silver I can't read the text but I will google.When using the switch do I leave the key in off position?Do I still need to ground leads when cranking from switch.

With the key off you'll get no spark and therefore no signal to your light. With the key on you'll have spark and therefore want to ground your leads.

Thanks,so key on,lanyard/kill engaged,crank via starter switch at solenoid and I'm good?Damn lanyard will kill spark as well I think.
