I started tearing down my carb the other day. Took the float bowl off. There is a brass part in the center of the float that takes a screwdriver to remove(don't know the name of the part). It was stuck real good. Took my "new" big screwdriver and started to loosen it, when part of it chipped off. Had a heck of a time unscrewing the rest of the way. When i reached the end of the threads, I still had a heck of a time getting it out the rest of the way.

Looked gritty after getting it out. Looked down the hole it came out of and saw what looked like a round gasket, still partially stuck down there. If I had my diagram in front of me, I'd tell you all the part names I'm talking about. I'm at work now.

Is it supposed to be that hard getting it out, or did I dammage something. I used my hands only while pulling it out. No big pliers.

Also while putting in my new spark plug wires, i left about 1/32" of wire sticking out like the old plug wires had. I pushed them in real good like and wiggled them at the same time. I didn't try pulling on them after i put them in, thinking i would just loosen them.

did i do this right?

i beleive you are talking about the high speed jet, i take it that 1/2 the slot broke off. it may effect the high speed running. i don't know for sure. as that is the pick up for it. which end of the plug wire are you speaking of ? the coil or plug. i've gotten to where i strip off enough to wrap around the connector, on the plug end. the coil end has a pin the sticks into the center core, that has to be lined up.

it's the premade wires and i'm talking about the coil end. it goes down a tunnel like thing and i can't see in there.

The high and low speed jets came out nicely. The thing i'm talking about, you have to take the bowl off to get to. It's in the middle of the round float.

yes. the tip of the slot for the screwdriver chipped off, but i can still turn it with a screwdriver.

does that sound like a problem? Should it come out easier than i described?

That part is called the high speed nozzle. It sticks up into the venturi where vacuum created by the airflow pulls gas up through it. There is no gasket.

It should be OK, since you have a high speed needle valve to adjust to compensate for any bugger marks.

makes perfect sence. I'll look down that hole again and recheck what i thought was a round gasket or seal. I may need new glasses.

Thanks again guys. You really are super!!!1:)
