adding a battery using blue sea system add a battery kit to my single 454 in a 21' baja. currently the house load dist. panel is fed through engine harness. its not much of a dist. panel, just feeds the lights, bilge, blower etc. it is a 10 gauge wire with about a 15' run. i have found the power wire that feeds this panel and can easily remove it from starter solenoid and wire directly to my new house battery bank, thus isolating it from starting bank.
my question is the starting circuit fuse is also located in this panel. does the starting circuit have to be on the starting battery or can it remain now in the newly created house bank? whats worst case scenario, house battery discharges and i have to use battery selector switch to combine and then start motor? i would imagine very little current is needed to open the solenoid so chances are this would not really be a concern? the problem with changing this over to starting battery bank is that i would have to cut factory harness and in-line fuse the circuit and fish the wire back to the engine bay, a real pita, so if its not necessary i wont do it, thanks in advance
