Starting issue

I have a 2004 mercruiser alpha one and when I try and start it it’ll click 5-10 times before it fires up. New starter and good battery. Someone suggested a slave solenoid possibly? Any ideals?

Unbolt and wire brush your connections, especially the ground - at both ends. Make em shiny enough to eat with.

look for cracks in main leads as well. I have experienced one red battery cable getting a nick, and saltwater corrosion ate through the copper.

Most likely a connection issue or starter relay. But I’d pull the plugs and make sure they aren’t wet and turn it over with no plugs in it. Just to make sure something else isn’t going on.
