Hi Guys,
I had the Johnson 90H V4 (1984), that i had run with no oil mixed in the gas... Long story.
Finally, i've gotten my gas mixed in, Cleaned and regapped the plugs. Readt to crank her up and the battery was low, she would turn over but not catch. I decided to put a charge on the battery ( 8 hours), when i checked the battery again, she was completely dead. All i can get is a single click somewhere at in the vicinity of the solenoid/starter.
i went out and got a brand new battery and still, all i get is this single click. Any advice ya'll could give would be great!

Re: starting issues

Hi full_boat....

First...make sure all the teriminals are clean. Try the starter sw. again. If the solenoid still just clicks....see below.

Jump the large terminals on the solenoid with a screwdriver. If the starter kicks up and spins the engine, chances are the solenoid has gone south. Replace it.

Keep us posted.

Re: starting issues

Go to FAQ, "Outboard Wont Start".

Get a meter and troubleshoot.

Are you sure you didn't melt your engine down?

JB,
Thanks for your intelligent and informative response. So much better then... "do you think you melted the engine down" I have printed the information on the FAQ'S page and will follow that guide line.
Thanks
