Hi all

I need some help here . From time to time , the engine on my 83 Skeeter Starfire 115 will not start . I can however get it started by removing the motor cowling and taking out the inline fuse and reinstalling it and get the motor to start just fine. Can anyone tell me what they think the problem might be ? I don't know if I need to replace the inline fuse holder or if it is something more serious like the starter . I don't think it is the starter because as I said earlier , I can get it started by reinstalling the 25 amp fuse after removing the cowling ,can it be getting wet ?

Thanks all in advance for any help

It sounds as though you may have a little corrosion problem. Take the fuse out then clean its posts real well, then apply some silicone dielectric grease to the posts, then work the fuse in and out a few times, put just a dab more of the dielectric grease on then install and close up. That should put a stop to your corrosion issue at the fuse.

When it doesn't want to start, use a voltmeter set on the ohm scale and check for continuity with power off. Larry

Thanks , I will give that a shot , I was just going to replace the inline fuse holder .

I found the problem , apparently due to vibration , a grounding screw came out .I simply reinstalled the screw along with a dab of lock tite and all works great now.

Thanks for all the help
