I have a 1974 Mercruiser 140hp 4 cyl I/O. For about 45 seconds ran without water, how much, if any damage was done? Had dog ears attached fell off when I engaged throttle to rev up.

Lesson two, EEOCRAM. A Mercruiser wasn't an outboard before and it still isn't an outboard. It was an I/O and it is still and I/O.

Please use the correct forum.

Moving this.

You need to get some looong cable ties, that the hvac guys use, and strap the muffs on; you have to cut them off each time.
Experienced on the muffs moving, here.

Would the impellar being damaged cause it not to move when I give it gas. Took the boat out was cruising along fine. Stopped to fish a bit, started it up and it would not cruise, just go about 2 mph and do a lot of bubbling at the trim. It would rev up but not go above 2 mph. Had to drive back about 2 miles to the dock that way.
