Re: Starting on Muffs: How do I know?

My Alpha one gen one has a thru-hull pickup, and an engine mounted seawater pump, no pump in my drive so that is not an all encompassing statement ;)

Roger! I had never seen one, but also had never looked to hard since mine have always been on the drive. Thanks for the info!

Sure thing! It confused me when I first bought this boat.

My well water results in such low pressure that I am going to fill a big tub full of water and start the engine with the drive submerged in that. I will also have the hose running in the tub.

The big party tubs with the rope handles or even some smaller rubber trash cans should be fine.

Maybe you should think about doing the same.

How did you do with starting your boat?
One thing I didn't mention is that I made sure and turned the water supply on full blast.
Also the sea water pump, or impeller, on my engine "Will Not" let water by. So if you hook up the muffs or engine flush, the impeller actually prevents water from filling the system. It won't fill unless the impeller is spinning. Like when the motor is running.
Do you have that "Engine Flush" hook up on your engine?

Is Don on vacation or what? I would have thought he would have popped up by now with the answer.
