Starting Problem for 25 horse (1985)

Friends,

I have a 25 horse 1985 two stroke manual start and I cannot get it to start on the first three pulls. It seems I need to pump the ball multiple times, them pull the choke a half dozen times, then it starts (after I have already done this). Am I not getting enough fuel in the proper area???

Any ideas???? I would like to have it dialed in on 1-3 pulls and start. I am getting to old for the manual start deal and may need to go electric.

pump the bulb till it is hard!! throttle all the way up in neutral, there is a stop, for it. choke on, pull should start in 3 pulls. if not have carbs ever been cleaned, new plugs, proper carb adjustment.
you only have the slow speed adjustment, use the first section of this.

The ball is always pumped and have new plugs. Do I leave the choke pulled out???? I was told not to do this, was the person wrong from your perspective??

leave it pull out for 3 or 4 pulls, it has to get gas. it will usually hit, and you push the choke in, then you may have to move it in and out to keep it running until it settles down. if the carb are adjusted right, you have good spark, and compression, it should start or atleast 3 or 4 tries. my 55 15 hp would always start 1st or 2nd pull.

Are you sure you have a choke? I believe the 1985 25 hp has a primer. Pull the primer 3-5 times (start with 3) and then leave the primer out. It'll go back in about half way on its own. Then try pulling over the motor over. If it doesn't start after a half dozen pulls give the primer a couple more shots, but no more or it will flood.

They are a pain when they flood, but they usually start right up aft the first couple pulls so its seldom a problem.
