hello, can someone give me an idiots guide on the correct procedure to start a 1987,90 hp v4,( cold ),,ive isolated the vro and using pre-mix..thanks piperdog
I'm gonna have to give this a try. I have been starting with the fast idle down all the way, but not holding the key in other than to push up and turn it. Once it fires up, I hit the fast idle lever up until the idle increases.
There is a sticky on this section called "Top Secret" with details on starting these engines cold. I had a hard time with mine until I read the "COLD START" part. Helped me out a lot. I have a 1990 100HP with the VRO removed.
i usually press the key in about 1 sec before starting then let off the choke/solenoid injection when I hear the first poof. then turn it over again and it usually cranks right up. idle lever half way up. maybe press in the key a couple of more times to keep it running (a quick in and out)
check out the cold starting procedure sticky on the how to section. make sure the choke plates are "all the way" closed! i had a hard time with me and didn't notice it
